If affected DO NOT drive a vehicle or operate machinery.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDo not use Lomotil if:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e• You are allergic to diphenoxylate or atropine, or any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. Always check the ingredients to make sure you can use this medicine.\u003cbr\u003e\n• You have jaundice.\u003cbr\u003e\n• You have diarrhoea caused by pseudomembranous enterocolitis. This is a potentially serious infection of the gut, which may occur during or up to several weeks following antibiotic treatment.\u003cbr\u003e\n• You have an inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.\u003cbr\u003e\n• You have bacterial colitis or amoebic colitis.\u003cbr\u003e\n• It is past the expiry date printed on the pack or if the packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCheck with your doctor if you:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e• Have any other medical conditions, especially\u003cbr\u003e\n• Liver disease\u003cbr\u003e\n• Kidney disease\u003cbr\u003e\n• Down's Syndrome\u003cbr\u003e\n• A history of drug abuse\u003cbr\u003e\n• Take any medicines for any other condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDuring treatment, you may be at risk of developing certain side effects. It is important you understand these risks and how to monitor for them. Speak to your pharmacist or doctor regarding the associated side effects.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eCheck with your doctor if you are pregnant. Lomotil should not be taken near or at the time of giving birth, because diphenoxylate is chemically related to medicines, which can slow down the breathing of newborn infants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eTalk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed. The active ingredients in Lomotil may pass into breast milk. Infants of nursing mothers taking Lomotil may show some effects of the medicine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDo not give Lomotil to children under 12 years of age.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eKeep Lomotil out of reach of children since accidental overdosage may result in severe, even fatal breathing problems.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDo not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003ePlease consult a doctor if symptoms persist longer than 48 hours.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAlways read the label.
